The Story of Trailhead Cookie Company

⭐️ BLOG POST: The Story of Trailhead Cookie Company

(How a Hockey Fundraiser Became a Colorado Cookie Brand)

Every great Colorado adventure starts at a trailhead.
So did ours — only ours began in a kitchen, with a borrowed mixer, a bag of flour, and a mom trying to help her kid’s hockey team.

How It All Started

In October of 2024, our son’s Pee Wee hockey team needed to raise money for tournaments. Like every sports parent knows, fundraising can feel overwhelming… and often ends with you buying a stack of things you never wanted in the first place.

I remember thinking: What if we did something fun? Something people actually wanted? Something delicious?

So I baked.

Not just any cookies — half-pound cookies, big enough to share but irresistible enough that nobody actually does. Real butter. Cane sugar. Colorado-grown flour. Thick, gooey centers. Flavors inspired by the mountains we love.

We set up a table at the annual Luki night fundraiser with a handmade sign.
Four hours later, we were completely sold out — and had almost $1,000 for the team.

Parents came back for second cookies before their kids even finished. Coaches were hiding cookies in their jackets. People kept asking:
“Where is your bakery?”
“Do you deliver?”
“Are these REALLY made in Arvada?”

And that’s when I realized… I might be onto something.

A Cookie Company Was Born

After that first fundraiser, word spread faster than a breakaway goal. Friends told friends. Hockey families shared posts. Messages poured in asking how to order more.

So I did what any mom with a mixer, a dream, and a little bit of crazy would do:

I turned my kitchen into a Colorado cottage bakery.

Trailhead Cookie Company officially launched in 2024 — named for the idea that every adventure starts somewhere, and ours started right here at home.

Why “Trailhead”?

Because our cookies are inspired by the places we love.
Colorado isn’t just where we live — it’s who we are.

Our flavors came naturally:

  • Vail Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate Chip

  • Steamboat Snickerdoodle

  • Copper Mountain Chocolate Chip

  • Aspen Double Chocolate

  • Ho Springs Hot Cocoa Cookie

  • Manitou Double Chocolate Mint

Each flavor tells a story: ski days, camping weekends, summer road trips, snowy mornings, and all the little memories that make Colorado feel like home.

Baked With Purpose

Trailhead Cookie Company isn’t just about cookies.

It’s about:

  • Supporting youth sports

  • Building community

  • Bringing people joy

  • Creating moments that slow down busy days

  • Showing our kids that small dreams can become big realities

It’s also about staying true to our ingredients and values — real butter, real sugar, real chocolate, and when possible, Colorado-grown and locally sourced ingredients.

No shortcuts. No fillers. Just big, beautiful cookies baked with intention.

Growing One Cookie at a Time

What started as a hockey fundraiser quickly grew into:

  • Pop-up shops at farmers markets

  • Colorado sporting events

  • Holiday craft fairs

  • Turkey Trots and community races

  • Seasonal cookie drops

  • Custom cookie pizzas

  • Gift sets inspired by Colorado ski towns

  • And now, an entire community of amazing cookie lovers

Every event, every smile, every “OMG this cookie is HUGE!” reminds me why we started.

The Story Continues…

Trailhead Cookie Company is still a family business in the truest sense:

My husband helps with logistics.
My kids help with events (and cookie testing… lots of cookie testing).
Friends and neighbors volunteer to package, sell, and cheer us on.
And the Colorado community shows up again and again with love and support.

From our kitchen to your adventures, thank you for being part of our story.
We’re just getting warmed up (literally — the ovens never stop).

Here’s to more cookies, more community, and more Colorado inspiration.

Bake on, friends.
